Growth Mindset: Motto





During election season I hear, "Those who show up make the decisions," a lot. I have always loved this quote. I'm in advertising and the more I think about it this quote the more I think it is important to show up to create change, not so much always make the decisions. When I want to be lazy and not lead my group or skip an agency meeting, I tell myself, "Those who show up create change."

    Hey, Maryellen!

    I think this is a great motto, especially for college. Coming to a university, there's no one to force you into doing things you don't want to -- while this can feel nice, it's dangerous. It's WAY easier to sit at home and watch Netflix than to put yourself outside of your comfort zone and go meet people/get involved. However, if we do this, we'll look up after a while and realize we've missed out on so much. Your motto is a great reminder that good things happen to people who just "show up"

Week 2 Story: Three Roses

Three Roses There once was a caring mother with three daughters. The family was running low on supplies so the mother planned a trip to the market. Before she left the mother asked her daughters what they wanted from the market. The two eldest girls supplied a long list of wants. The youngest, however, just wanted three Roses. The family lived deep in the woods so the trip would take two days time. After collecting all the supplies that were needed the mother started to head back home. With such a heavy load, the mother needed a rest. It was getting dark and she could hear the animals coming out to search for food under the moon. She saw an old looking palace and decided to hurry there for refuge for the night. The mother had never seen this palace but it seemed extremely old.
